Art Journal Page Process, Prompt List #39

 Full Video Tutorial:

Welcome!

Above is the prompt list tutorial video. The full prompt list can be found at the end of the video.
I encourage you to follow the prompts using your stash and see how the page turns out.

I have written the prompts for you to enjoy crafting without any expectations. Each of the lists that I write and follow, I have no plan in mind and I follow each step which makes crafting fun and care free. You can also use the same list multiple times and the outcome can be completely different.

Each of the prompt lists can be used for art journal pages, or if you prefer, you can create a canvas or tag with the steps. Whatever you feel like creating!

I hope you enjoy this weeks page.
If you create something that may have been inspired by the page/list, I would love to see your creation. Feel free to tag me on instagram with #SparklePrompts for any prompt list creations.

To begin this weeks page I used three acrylic paints, black, green and blue, I added them to the background with a pallet knife. Once dried I added tissue paper for texture with mod podge, and painted the paper with a diluted purple colour.

To add interest to the background I stamped musical aspects in silver and used my scan n cut to add musical shapes in silver cardstock.

For the focal image which is inspired by a musical instrument, I added a topper I had in my stash of a rocker holding a guitar. I then added liquid pearls around the page in yellow to match the image, and used liquid enamel dots in yellow also.

I used the liquid enamel to add a title which is lyrics of a song I have chosen.
To finish the page I used a yellow gelato to add a soft border to the page.

Here is the full page spread, I hope you enjoyed this weeks prompt list.

To begin this page I used tissue paper and water to add some colour to the page. Once the tissue paper was removed I used distress oxide ink to add interest with two separate stencils. I added white to the background to bring the volume down slightly.

For the focal image I used pva glue to freehand a sea creature and added epsom salts for texture, I then added distress ink spray to that salt to add colour to the focal image.

For the plants I used a stamp on acetate and a green embossing powder, I cut them out and added them to the bottom of the page, covering the focal image slightly/
I added a border on the left and right sides of the page, along with the title using green pearl drops to stick with the theme.

The final step for this page was to seal the focal image to stop salt from escaping, unfortunately I chose to use pva glue again, which completely warped the image, changed the colour, and did not dry in the same colour as shown in the video.

Every now and then we make a mistake in mixed media, at times like this it isn't possible to save it, but I thought it was important to show that we all have those days, and we can learn from them.

To begin this weeks page I primed with white gesso and used transparent texture paste through a stencil to create a resist. I then used gelatos with plenty of water in yellows Banana and Lemon. I used kitchen roll to remove any excess water and to clear the resist of gelato.

Once dry I added some interest to the background with chalk pastel in red, blending with my finger.
For the focal images I used scrapbook paper from my stash to create origami birds and stuck them onto the page. I then added a title with the same colour paper and collage elements from a magazine.

To finish the page I added a border of washi tape in cohesive colours and used a mini leaf punch with the same papers again and added the, randomly over the background.

After priming the page with gesso, I applied black metallic acrylic mixed with lush pink as a base for the background.
Once dry I used white acrylic to stencil on text and gilding polish in Copper Shine from cosmic shimmer to stencil on the clocks.
I used cheesecloth from my stash that had been previously dyed brown to add interest.

For the focal image I chose a puzzle from a puzzle book that would fit with my page. I then used a copper coloured paint to add colour to the image.
For the title I used white paint with a stencil and outlined "Carpe Diem" in black fine liner.

To finish the page I added texture paste with a pallet knife in green and blue, and completed the page adding white splashes in acrylic paint.

To begin this page I started with using map segments to collage over the background. I then used blue and green acrylic paint watered down to do a thin wash of colour.
I used a vegetable root to stamp a lighter green across the background and outlined it with metallic green and blue pens.

For the focal image, I chose a stamp of a mushroom house and coloured it with watercolour paints. I then added some bunting which is a die from my stash, and coloured that with the same paints.
Gemmed flowers were added for interest in colours to match the page.

For the title I chose a sticker that matched the colours on the page.
To finish the page splashes were added in yellow.

Welcome!

I primed this page with white gesso to begin. For the background I used three different mediums, acrylic paint (in blue and green), gelatos and pigment powder.
I then used transparent gloss texture paste through a stencil, and once dry I then added yellow distress ink to each of those stencilled segments.

For this image I used a napkin with the bird you can see here. I stuck the cut out bird on to white card for the focal image and only stuck the bottom edges down to create a pocket.

To create something to go into the pocket, I used scrapbook paper and a feather die cut, I used embroidery thread to attach them to, and scalloped circles as the ends to have an interactive piece on the page. This part will be tucked into the pocket created with the bird.

To add interest to the background, I used a scribble stamp with archival ink in jet black, I then used pearl drops in red to have drips coming from them.

I added embroidery thread in wound patches on to the scribble stamps, and to finish I added a red gem to the centre of each of those segments.

For the background I used book pages to collage, then primed with clear gesso.
I added brown acrylic paint with a sponge and white acrylic paint with my fingers.

The next step was to add a segment of a book page and I used paint and Distress inks to colour it.

For the focal image I used an image of a book and photos from a paper pad, fussy cut it and edged it with distress ink. I added the title on top of the focal image with rub-ons from my stash.

I have added butterflies to the page from the same paper pad as my focal image. I also added 3D stickers of butterflies and  a few dragonflies.
To finish I added shadows around the page with a watercolour crayon, and edged two corners for a border.
