Art Journal Page Process, Prompt List #43

Full Video Tutorial:

Welcome!

Above is the prompt list tutorial video. The full prompt list can be found at the end of the video.
I encourage you to follow the prompts using your stash and see how the page turns out.

I have written the prompts for you to enjoy crafting without any expectations. Each of the lists that I write and follow, I have no plan in mind and I follow each step which makes crafting fun and care free. You can also use the same list multiple times and the outcome can be completely different.

Each of the prompt lists can be used for art journal pages, or if you prefer, you can create a canvas or tag with the steps. Whatever you feel like creating!

I hope you enjoy this weeks page.
If you create something that may have been inspired by the page/list, I would love to see your creation. Feel free to tag me on instagram with #SparklePrompts for any prompt list creations.

To begin this weeks page I used a brayer/paint roller to add paint in purple, blue and back.
I then used Cosmic Shimmer gilding Polish in Silver Dream to add swirls.
I used silver texture paste to add stencilling in the form of stars.

For more background interest, I added stamping in Jet Black Archival Ink of small fairies as you can see here. I then added the focal image which is an image on a napkin, I applied a light layer of white gesso beforehand to make sure the focal image was visible on the page.

I added white dots to the page with a white gel pen to create stars, sticking in with the theme.

For the title I added a quote from a William Shakespeare play, and outlined it with the same silver on used to write.
To complete the page I added white enamel dots as a border around the full page.

Here is the full page spread, I hope you enjoyed this weeks prompt list.

To begin this weeks page I cut up book pages and used them in the background. I then used a baby wipe to add a brown paint so that the pages were still visible.
The next step was to add stencilling for which I used two different brown Distress Inks with two different stencils, one wood texture and one crack texture.

I then used an embossing folder to add texture to a piece of card and used distress ink with a blending tool to highlight the texture.
For the focal image I added an envelope which contains the image you can see above and added some ink to make it more cohesive with the layout. I then added a title on the focal image envelope.

To finish the page I added a border of stitches with a stamp, and added more stamping of images that were cohesive with the focal image.

To begin this weeks page I used a brick wall stencil to add texture paste. I primed the page with white gesso and added Distress Ink spray to the background.
I used menu pieces to add interest to the background and used cosmic shimmer gilding polish in copper shine to bring out the texture.

For the focal images, I used embossing powder on acetate and heat set. I used a stamp to add a wing to one of the images in a different colour embossing powder, and used this same powder to create the title.
I stuck these parts on to the page with a washi tape.

For the final touches I used the same gilding polish to add a border to the page and watered it down to add splashes.

To begin this weeks page I used paint in the background and added interest with stamping in a similar colour. I used the same stamp on book pages and cut it out to stick onto the background for interest.

The focal image I chose to add is a napkin, I used decoupage glue to add it to white card and fussy cut the image to fit onto the page.

I drew some of the features of my focal image and laminated them before adding them to the page, I then gave him a name (Oscar), and added a title in similar colours to the owl.

I added a slight border to the page in white and the final step was to add seeds which I did with mod podge.

To begin this weeks page I used three acrylic paints, black, green and blue, I added them to the background with a pallet knife. Once dried I added tissue paper for texture with mod podge, and painted the paper with a diluted purple colour.

To add interest to the background I stamped musical aspects in silver and used my scan n cut to add musical shapes in silver cardstock.

For the focal image which is inspired by a musical instrument, I added a topper I had in my stash of a rocker holding a guitar. I then added liquid pearls around the page in yellow to match the image, and used liquid enamel dots in yellow also.

I used the liquid enamel to add a title which is lyrics of a song I have chosen.
To finish the page I used a yellow gelato to add a soft border to the page.

Art Journal Page Process, Prompt List #38

 Full Video Tutorial:

Welcome!

Above is the prompt list tutorial video. The full prompt list can be found at the end of the video.
I encourage you to follow the prompts using your stash and see how the page turns out.

I have written the prompts for you to enjoy crafting without any expectations. Each of the lists that I write and follow, I have no plan in mind and I follow each step which makes crafting fun and care free. You can also use the same list multiple times and the outcome can be completely different.

To begin this page I used tissue paper and water to add some colour to the page. Once the tissue paper was removed I used distress oxide ink to add interest with two separate stencils. I added white to the background to bring the volume down slightly.

For the focal image I used pva glue to freehand a sea creature and added epsom salts for texture, I then added distress ink spray to that salt to add colour to the focal image.

For the plants I used a stamp on acetate and a green embossing powder, I cut them out and added them to the bottom of the page, covering the focal image slightly/
I added a border on the left and right sides of the page, along with the title using green pearl drops to stick with the theme.

The final step for this page was to seal the focal image to stop salt from escaping, unfortunately I chose to use pva glue again, which completely warped the image, changed the colour, and did not dry in the same colour as shown in the video.

Every now and then we make a mistake in mixed media, at times like this it isn't possible to save it, but I thought it was important to show that we all have those days, and we can learn from them.

To begin this weeks page I primed with white gesso and used transparent texture paste through a stencil to create a resist. I then used gelatos with plenty of water in yellows Banana and Lemon. I used kitchen roll to remove any excess water and to clear the resist of gelato.

Once dry I added some interest to the background with chalk pastel in red, blending with my finger.
For the focal images I used scrapbook paper from my stash to create origami birds and stuck them onto the page. I then added a title with the same colour paper and collage elements from a magazine.

To finish the page I added a border of washi tape in cohesive colours and used a mini leaf punch with the same papers again and added the, randomly over the background.
